March 2026: Life of a Software Engineer but 5-9

It’s officially SPRING! This month has probably been the busiest month outside of work…

Staying Active

I’ve been staying active in various ways this month! With it being spring, the nicer weather has also motivated me to go out more.

Dance Practice

Finally, my first MODU Dance Cover is out! Watch Body by Dayoung here ^

In addition to that, I have been filming quite a number of covers! I filmed two this month 😀 I will definitely post them here when those are out as well!

Figure Skating

Figure Skating lessons have officially come to an end. Although I won’t be taking lessons again till the fall, I am happy to say that I’ve landed my first loop jump! The backspin is still in progress, but my right foot has been less tired which is a good thing 🙂

Swimming

I got to swim at a free community pool for the first time this year! It’s been over 6 months since I swam, but it was so refreshing! I was a little nervous that I might’ve forgotten all my strokes, but I should’ve been nervous that my dormant muscles might cramp up (cuz it did lol :0).

Also, BTS released their new album and new title song: SWIM (I did not purposely decide to go swim after they released this song haha)

Professional Development

Side Jobs

So, I quit tutoring w/ tutor.com. The low wage with lack of students made it feel like a waste of time just waiting for students online.

I did start a new part time job with LEGO Discovery Center as a Cafe Host! I’ve just been doing trainings but I’m so excited to start! Seeing all the happy kids’ faces at the discovery center really motivates me to have a great time while working!

Volunteering

I participated as a resume reviewer for CodePath again this Spring! I was blown away by the skills and experiences that the students had! I was again reminded that I should stay on the front line of new technology and continue to refine and learn new skills.

I also participated in Lehigh University’s Girls Who Code Tech Career Panel. It was great seeing friends/students and answering their questions about working as a SWE and also just about life postgrad.

Travel

Ice Chips 2026: A World Journey

Earlier this month, I got to watch multiple Olympic Figure Skaters live at the Skating Club of Boston. That included Alysa Liu! Watching her performances live was something else. She’s so graceful but powerful at the same time. There were also other junior skaters and I’ve got to say, there’s some great talent out there that the world has yet to see.

Driving for the first time in Boston

I drove for the first time from Brookline, MA to Revere Beach this month! It was an experience for sure, but I think my driving history in Los Angeles helped me stay safe and make quick decisions when needed. Thankfully, I drove super early in the morning so there weren’t any crazy drivers, but definitely formed an opinion around driving in Boston. If Mayor Wu reads this, I hope she actually does something about it…

Dear Mayor Wu, please put our tax dollars to better signage, fixing potholes, and lane painting.

I gotta say… Massachusetts beaches (at least Revere Beach) just made me want to go back to SoCal for the real nice beaches…

Trip to Toronto

This month, I took a short trip to Toronto for NMIXX’s 1st World Tour! It was so much fun to watch and the girls are just as talented as they seem online! Their live vocals while dancing powerfully and in-sync was so cool to watch live.

If you actually got to the end for this blog, thanks for reading (I know this was a longer post)! It was a super packed and busy month! I hope the spring flowers actually bloom in April~ can’t wait to share what happens in April!
