January 2026: Life of a Software Engineer but 5-9

Happy very belated New Years! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve last posted, and a lot has happened since!

Dance Practice

Dance has been taking up most of my time outside of work! I’ve been practicing at least 3 times a week for multiple dance covers. It has been really fun!

Figure Skating

I have been figure skating at least once a week! I’ve gone with friends, coworkers, and my brother! It’s been a really great exercise for me and I’ve been sleeping so much better because of it!

Some skills I’ve been working on:

  1. Loop Jump
  2. Back Scratch Spin
  3. Scratch Spin
  4. Edge Work

Tutoring

I finished onboarding and can tutor Korean, Elementary Math, and review some resumes!

Volunteering

I’ve folded sooo much origami during the last few weeks I will actually need to ship some out before the end of the month!

I’ve also been mentoring a couple Lehigh University students and it’s been really nice to chat up with them and see how their internship process and school work has been going.

Trip to Seattle/Concert

I spent 20 hours in Seattle to see friends and went to the Twice Concert with a few of them! I had an amazing time! I’ve been following Twice for quite a while so I’ve learned most of their dances at this point. I was dancing, and another fan told me that it was cool to see me dance to all of their songs and gave me a cute ribbon at the end of the concert!

A little bit into work

I won’t go into detail, but TechStart is almost over! I found out the permanent team I will be going to and am so happy with the team I’ve been placed with! I will miss my TechStart team so much, but I am definitely more excited to learn a new tech stack with this new team!

That’s it for the month of January! I will be changing cadence of this blog to monthly so all future blog titles will be “‘Month’ 2026: Life of a Software Engineer but 5-9.” February is currently planned to be a VERY busy month for me so stay tuned!
