Merry Christmas Eve~ what a great day to post pt 2 to my pre-2025 blog series!
over indulgence
I checked my Youtube 2025 recap and surprise, 4 out of 5 of my top 5 most viewed channels were personal finance channels.
I found it funny but also worrying for myself. I have spent so much of this year learning to adult, more specifically, on personal finance. From budgeting to retirement to taxes, it’s been an eventful year of learning for sure. The major learning curve was going to happen at one point or another in the process of becoming a responsible adult.
However, this evolved into a stressor in my life as well. I think a little bit of stress is fine, but when it became the only thing I watched on Youtube for a period of time, I knew I was over indulging in this type of content which was not good for my mental and physical health. I started getting migraines and that’s when I knew I had to cut down my hours on this type of content. Not only that, a good chunk of personal finance videos related to investing were just very confusing when I would come across conflicting opinions from the content creators. I constantly thought about money…
moderation
From then on, I decided to watch less of the content but also picked and chose reliable channels. I stopped watching any videos related to day trading and investments in specific stocks or get rich quick videos. I just focused on the bigger picture that I just need to plan enough so that I can achieve financial freedom.
I thought less about money. I talked less about money. I still budget but I wasn’t so stingy on money that it was making me stressed about it. I learned to prepare for the future while staying present in the now. Of course, it’s not perfect but I just started my first big girl job and I think making progress is all that matters.
goals
With the new mindset I learned this past year, here are just a few that I’ve planned out for 2026.
- Follow the Financial Order of Operations by the Money Guys
- Instead of disappointing myself when I can’t complete a no-spend challenge, give myself some grace when I spend on my wants
- Limit indulging in finance related news happening in the economy to once a week
Well that was it for my personal finance goals 🙂 I’m not sure what my next blog is going to be yet, but I still have a few days to reflect and think about it!
