2nd month of my last year at Lehigh Uni

Two months has passed since school started. I went through a 2 week long respiratory infection… Courses are picking up and I’ve gotten some midterms back…

Highlights:

Clubs:

Girls Who Code:

  • I went to Forté Conference with Girls Who Code in NYC!! This was a great experience, and since it was a much smaller conference, I was able to get more time with the recruiters.
  • We reached 2.6k followers on the LinkedIn Page that I’ve been managing/posting!!
  • I’ve been struggling to think of new post ideas though…

J.M. Ent.

  • I just finished filming a dance cover video! Video should be up soon on JM’s Instagram. Look forward to Swan Song!!
  • Since I’m Treasurer for the club, I’ve gotten us full funding for our outfits for Fusion! Fusion is an annual Fall cultural performance that is held at Lehigh University.

Classes/Courses:

Business Classes:

  • 26 page essay… that’s all I can say about the Intro to Entrepreneurship Course I’m taking right now. At least it’s done and it was lowkey interesting to write about, but that took a lot out of me…
  • I recently got my midterm back for my HR Management class. It’s super interesting and I wish I took this class earlier! Better late than never. 🙂 Since I just got my midterm back, we haven’t covered much, but this week I learned about giving good feedback and that the feedback sandwich is actually not the best way to provide feedback. Rather, starting with constructive criticism and then ending it on a good note with compliments is better.
  • I also had a midterm for Business law. I wish I did better on the midterm. I found out that one of the questions were related to a class discussion that I missed when I was sick, so no more getting sick and missing class!

Computer Science Classes:

  • Design and Analysis of Algorithms is getting more difficult. I’m having a hard time focusing in the 9:20am class… :/ I didn’t do as bad as I thought on the midterm considering that I was sick the week of my midterm. I’m just happy to know that the professor said there will be a curve. Another midterm is coming up in 2 weeks, and since the more recent content isn’t clicking, I definitely need to start studying like ASAP.
  • Operating System Design is as usual. Thankfully, since I’m not as sick, I was able to start the 2nd programming project earlier and my partner and I are almost done! For the 2nd programming project, I learned how to implement threads and prevent deadlocks and race conditions. I ran into a lot of errors, but there were less functions to implement compared to the first project, it was a lot more doable.
  • Our capstone project’s code got deleted! The remote machine we were working on got wiped (note that git on that machine was broken as well so we didn’t really know another way to back it up), so this was a huge setback to our progress. We were able to recreate most of the code. We’re still working through it together, but hopefully we can get it done before the end of the semester.

Career

  • I was accepted to the Rewriting the Code x Goldman Sachs Virtual Boot-camp!! So far, I’ve attended 3 sessions and I realized that I should really start Leetcode-ing again.
  • I participated in the Lehigh Valley Hackathon! No, I didn’t win. BUT, I made a personal accomplishment of creating an AI Chatbot! See more on my web design section of my website: https://angelacui.com/web-design/
    Hackathon blog post coming soon!!

So how am I de-stressing?

  • Dance: The Kpop Dance club I’m in is also a stress reliever for me. Not gonna lie, there are times I don’t wanna go to dance practice, but once I’m there, I have a lot of fun. It’s a time where I don’t need to think about school. (this hasn’t changed :))
  • Sleep: After being very sick, I realized I just needed to sleep earlier. I blame my poor sleep schedule to getting sick, so I’ve just been sleeping earlier and not stretching myself too thin.
  • Philly! I visited a lot of my friends in Philly during my Fall break. It was so nice to see them since I haven’t seen most of them in months!

Two months down, 7 more to go. Look forward to my update for month 3 out of 9!
