A month has passed since school started. I still can’t believe that I’m now one of the oldest people on campus (besides faculty and grad students).
Highlights:
Clubs:
Girls Who Code:
- I planned a Resume Workshop event with Jeff Nguyen for our Girls Who Code College Loop as the Director of External Relations. He was super helpful and gave personalized live resume reviews to our students.
- We reached 1.3k followers on the LinkedIn Page that I’ve been managing/posting!! Since this is the first year running Girls Who Code on our campus, it’s pretty cool to have grown so fast on LinkedIn since we opened the page this summer.
- Follow Lehigh’s Girls Who Code LinkedIn Page
J.M. Ent.
- Club Expo was pretty fun and we got a few new freshmen that wanted to join our Kpop dance club!
- Since I’m Treasurer for the club, so far, I’ve just gotten us funding to cover outfit samples for our performance in November.

Classes/Courses:
Business Classes:
- Intro to Entrepreneurship Course has been very insightful. The assignments so far have taught me to think deeper and more creatively about startups and possible unicorn competitor ideas.
- HR Management so far is a pretty interesting course in terms of how the course is structured. I’m in a group for the whole semester where we do HR decision making simulations. We’re not doing too great, but we’re learning as we go since we’re only 2 simulations in out of 8. In addition to the simulations, the content is similar to Business Law which I’m also taking but in a different scope: mostly related to discrimination laws/policies.
- Business law is also interesting, but, at times, it can get pretty boring. I just appreciate that the professor includes lots of discussion during class that forces me to stay engaged.
Computer Science Classes:
- Design and Analysis of Algorithms is pretty difficult. I have a midterm coming up next week, and I’m a bit worried for it. I like the lectures in terms of the topics since algorithms have been useful for OAs. However, logic and proving algorithms don’t click for me naturally (how ironic as a CS major), so I’m planning on spending the weekend studying for that.
- I have a love/hate relationship with the Operating System Design course. The programming project is HARDD and it’s in C++ which I’m not familiar with. I’m currently working on the client side of a client-server w/ encryption project. I like the topic a lot more than the Algorithms course but I have a quiz tomorrow and a partner programming assignment due on Monday so I’m lowkey dying. 😦
- I’m taking a Computer Science Capstone course as well. This is project-based course which I started back in the Spring semester. Our team is doing well, but right now it just feels like another task on my plate. We do have a midpoint presentation coming up soon so gotta prepare for that.
Career
- I received my full-time return offer w/ Liberty Mutual Insurance for their Tech Start Full-Time program in Boston!
So how am I de-stressing?
- Dance: The Kpop Dance club I’m in is also a stress reliever for me. Not gonna lie, there are times I don’t wanna go to dance practice, but once I’m there, I have a lot of fun. It’s a time where I don’t need to think about school.
- Pool: There’s a pool table in my dorm so I play a round at the end of everyday. I really only started this week, but it’s been a nice relaxer after a long day rather than doom scrolling on Instagram.
- Ice Skating: I’ve only gone once this month, but after a summer of not skating at all, it was pretty fun! I also went on a Friday morning so my friends and I basically had the rink all to ourselves.
One month down, 8 more to go. Look forward to my update for month 2 out of 9!
