One month into Tech Start @ Liberty Mutual Insurance

Inspired by Aaron B.’s intern update post on LinkedIn, I wanted to share an update for my experience as a Tech Start SWE Intern at Liberty Mutual Insurance! It’s been almost a month since I started my internship here in Seattle, WA this summer.

Almost everything besides the Agile methodology and Git was new to me. Here are a few highlights from my experience so far:

🧠 Learning Typescript: Typescript in backend? WHAT?! This was new to me.
πŸ’ͺ Exploring Jest Testing and Codacy Code Quality Control: Ensuring our code works consistently.
😎 Working with Bamboo Pipeline, AWS and learning Lambda and API Gateway: Integration testing purposes!
πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» Collaborating with and Fixing Git: Ran into many merge conflicts that needed to be fixed πŸ˜…
πŸ› Bug Fixing: Engaging in lively meetings with my teammates and software engineering manager to make sure our builds and deployments pass. Those frustrating package-lock.json files πŸ˜‚
🎟 Attending Scrum Events: Daily Scrums, Agile Ceremonies/Sprint Review Sessions with full time teams!

As a first-time SWE Intern, my experience has been great so far along with several enjoyable challenges. Shoutout to my amazing team for the support and mentorship!

Until the next update!
