Since mid-August, I’ve been applying to several internships. At the beginning, it was taking me probably 30-40 mins per application. This was taking too much time. (Note: the applications taking me 30-40 mins did not include a cover letter)
I found out about Simplify from a GitHub repo containing several open technical internships for next Summer (2024), and I was glad that I found out about this earlier on in my application process.
Now, I’m spending 10-15 mins per application (without a cover letter). I’m still looking for an easier way to create cover letters. I’m not writing these from scratch and I’m going back to previously written cover letters and revising them, but it’s currently taking me too long to edit each cover letter for an application.
I am thinking of making a mad-lib type of thing, but it’d be cool to incorporate some database + AI into the code so it knows many companies’ mission statement to customize each cover letter as much as possible. I’m currently taking a database course but not an AI/Machine Learning course anytime soon so we’ll see if that even happens.
